The lights are on at the Police Sacco Stadium in South C, and the air is thick with the sound of button-mashing and crowd cheers. The Capital Series has officially arrived, marking the fourth and most anticipated stop of the national circuit. For hundreds of gamers from Kiambu, Kajiado, and Machakos, this is the last major chance to break into the top tier of Kenyan esports.

With only 16 spots (the top four from each category) moving directly to the National Finals in April, the margin for error is zero.

1. The “Big Four” Battle

While the series has featured various titles across the country, the Capital Series is narrowing the focus to the most competitive disciplines in the region:

EA FC 26 & eFootball: The digital football crown is the most contested. Expect Nairobi’s “pro-clubs” to showcase tactical setups that mirror the English Premier League.

Tekken 8: The Fighting Game Community (FGC) in Nairobi is legendary. This weekend, keep an eye on the “frame-perfect” execution of local favorites who have been training in underground dojos for months.

FC Mobile: As the largest category by participation, the mobile brackets are where the “Cinderella stories” happen. A student from Machakos could realistically take down a seasoned pro using nothing but a mid-range smartphone.

2. More Than a Game: The Ranking Points

If you don’t make the top four, all is not lost—but it gets complicated. The Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) uses a weighted ranking system:

Attendance Points: Simply competing in the Capital Series adds to your seasonal tally.

Consistency: Players who performed well in Nakuru (Flamingo Series) or Kisumu (Lake Series) can solidify their “Wildcard” entry for the April Finals by finishing in the Top 8 this weekend.

The Prize: Beyond the Ksh 50,000 regional pool, these points are the currency for international selection.

3. The “Stadium Effect”

Hosting the event at the Police Sacco Stadium is a statement of intent. For the first time, esports is being treated with the same logistical gravity as a KPL football match.

“Nairobi isn’t just a stop on the map; it’s the engine. The talent we see here this weekend will likely form 60% of our national team for the Global Esports Games,” — Ronny Lusigi, ESKF President.
