Kenyan youths now have a life-changing chance to gain international skills and experience, thanks to a new partnership between Kiambu National Polytechnic (KNP) and German training institutions.

The polytechnic has officially opened applications for its “Train and Work in Germany” initiative, a program designed to equip young Kenyans with technical skills that meet global industry standards while creating direct pathways to employment in Germany.

🎓 Who Can Apply?

According to Kiambu National Polytechnic, the program targets young Kenyans aged 18–35 who are passionate about building careers in technical and vocational fields such as:

  • Mechatronics and Engineering

  • Health and Nursing

  • Hospitality and Culinary Arts

  • Information Technology

  • Automotive Mechanics

  • Plumbing and Electrical Works

Successful applicants will undergo training and language preparation in Kenya before transitioning to partner institutions in Germany for advanced skill development and job placements.

💼 From the Classroom to a Global Career

Once trained, participants will have the opportunity to work with German companies and institutions, gaining valuable international experience while earning a living wage.

Officials from the polytechnic emphasized that this is not just a scholarship but a pathway to meaningful employment abroad.

“We are preparing our youths not just for local jobs but for the global economy,” said a representative from Kiambu National Polytechnic. “This program is about skills, opportunity, and transformation.”

🇰🇪 Boost for Kenya’s TVET Agenda

The initiative aligns with the Kenyan government’s TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) strategy, which aims to make Kenyan graduates globally competitive.

By linking local talent with international opportunities, the program also helps reduce unemployment and bridge the skills gap among Kenyan youth.

Education experts have hailed the move as a model for how local institutions can create global linkages for students.

📝 How to Apply

Interested candidates can submit their applications directly through the Kiambu National Polytechnic website or visit the admissions office for more information.

Applicants are advised to ensure they meet all eligibility requirements, including academic qualifications, age limits, and passport readiness.

The application window will remain open for a limited period, so early submission is highly encouraged.
