A Boost for Teachers and Schools

Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has opened 24,000 internship slots for Junior Secondary School teachers in a bid to strengthen the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Why It Matters

The program offers unemployed, registered teachers both income and invaluable classroom experience. Interns will receive KSh 20,000 monthly stipends for a year, during which they’ll engage in mentorship, lesson delivery, and student assessments.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.

  • Hold a Diploma in Education with at least a C+ mean grade.

  • Have C+ in two teaching subjects.

  • Be registered with TSC.

Additional requirements include uploading a valid ID, passport photo, TSC registration certificate, KRA PIN, and proof of personal accident cover.

How to Apply

Applications are open from August 26, 2025, until September 9, 2025. Interested teachers must submit applications exclusively via teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The TSC warns against fraudsters—applications are free and should not involve third-party payments.

A Step Toward Reducing Unemployment

Beyond filling immediate teaching needs, this initiative could help address Kenya’s rising teacher unemployment crisis, offering thousands of educators a path toward permanent positions in the future.
