The 5,000-Tree Target: Offsetting the Roar
Rallying is a high-octane sport, but KCB is ensuring it doesn’t leave a high carbon footprint. For the 2026 edition, the bank has integrated its Linda Miti initiative directly into the rally itinerary.
The Goal: To plant and nurture 5,000 trees across schools and community centers in the Naivasha region.
The Drivers’ Role: Elite KCB-sponsored drivers like Tinashe Gatimu and Nikhil Sachania are leading the charge, swapping their steering wheels for shovels in pre-event conservation exercises at local schools.
The Big Picture: This initiative supports the government’s ambitious “15 Billion Trees by 2032” goal, building on a legacy that has seen KCB plant over 100,000 trees since the rally’s return in 2021.
2. Mentoring the Future: The Green Debate Series
KCB is leveraging the global spotlight of the WRC to spark intellectual fire in Kenya’s youth.
60 Schools, One Vision: More than 60 high schools have been selected to participate in a “Green Debate” series. Students will compete in structured debates focused on climate change, sustainable tourism, and the role of sports in environmental conservation.
Incentivizing Innovation: The winning schools will receive “Green Grants” to fund environmental projects such as solar installations or water harvesting systems, ensuring the rally’s impact is felt in classrooms long after the dust settles.
3. The “Three-Star” Standard: A Model for Africa
The WRC Safari Rally recently achieved the prestigious FIA Environmental Accreditation “Three-Star” rating for the third consecutive time. KCB’s sponsorship is a cornerstone of maintaining this global standard.
Waste Management: Part of the KSh 227 million budget is dedicated to the “Leave No Trace” campaign, which ensures strict waste segregation and recycling across the Service Park and spectator zones.
Regional Integration: By supporting drivers from Rwanda (Queen Kalimpinya) and Uganda (Oscar Ntambi), KCB is using the Safari Rally as a diplomatic tool to foster regional cooperation and shared sustainability goals across East Africa.
